Day-old chick prices have jumped 67% in just 3 months (₦1,800 to ₦3,000). Poultry farmers face months-long waits for pullets, the young hens that produce our eggs. Less restocking now means an egg shortage very soon.

The solution is to

* Scale up local hatchery production to reduce reliance on imported breeding stock
* Government subsidies on day-old chicks & poultry feed to ease farmer costs
* Faster access to agricultural credit so farmers can restock despite high prices
* Policy intervention to stabilise input costs across the poultry value chain
